Spit happens

We had our check uo yesterday. He gained one more pound. So he is consistently gaining a pound per month, but that still makes him only 9 pounds at 3 months. He also grew another inch (22.5") We think he may have an issue with reflux sice this is what he looks like almost all day.

The boy spits up for the entire two hours between feedings on most days. So they are going to do a test on monday to see for sure.

How we spend our time

We really enjoy playing games with friends. Especially Pretty Pretty Princess. I think this must be the girls favorite (as it has appeared in many posts so far). We ran into a long-time friend at church a few weeks back and she came over and played with the girls and visited. We had a blast.

The girls love their little brother. I was preparing for my Stampin' Up! club and Dallin was chillin' in his swing. Whitney was playing with her bubbles and then she decided that Dallin would probably like the bubbles so she started blowing them at him. What great big sisters he has.

Shaving Cream

Did you know that shaving cream makes the best craft activity?! This is something I learned through Stampin' Up! and I thought it would be fun for the girls to make Grandpa birthday gifts using it. Boy did they have a blast. And the clean up is super easy and the kids end up cleaner than they were to begin with.
This is our color palette. All you do is put some shaving cream on a plate, add some color (I used Stampin' Up! re-inkers but you can use liquid food coloring too), swirl around and let your kids create.

We put their drawings on cookie sheets and then pressed paper down to pull up the image. Then you scrape the excess shaving cream off and VOILA.

I think Dallin wanted to join in the fun too.
They had a blast and Grandpa liked his gifts so it looks like it was a success.
ps this was back in January. I'm a bit behind. I'm trying to catch up but hey - I'm trying to put my kids first this year, and Dave is now applying for jobs again so no computer for me after the kids are in bed.

I got an award

My friend Lynners gave me an award for my blog. How nice is that.

The Friends Award is given to blogs that are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and to be friends. The hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated.
If I understand this correctly I now have to pass this award on to 8 more people. I don't know how I can choose!! I love all my friends and families blogs.
I am passing this award to:
Bridgette
Elise
Mauri
Kate
Some of these are private blogs, but there are links to the ones that aren't.

Eggnog

Tonight at dinner Dave was talking to the girls about the next Cronicles of Narnia movie. He asked them who he thought was going to be in it. I said "Lucy" and Danica said, "Aslan, Susan, Peter and Eggnog!"
How funny!!

2 Months Old

My baby boy is 2 months old. I can't believe it!!

He had his check up yesterday and he is now 8 lbs even and has grown another inch tall. (21.5") He still isn't gaining weight like the doctor would like so we still have to go in for weight checks, but she says he is a very healthy baby.

He is a happy happy baby, and daddy can even get him to laugh. He likes to talk to his sisters, but hates to have his head touched by them. He doesn't get much tummy time yet because I'm affraid he will get run over. He is a trooper and calmed down right after his shots, and hasn't been very cranky yet. He seems to like to sleep things off.

My Dream World

In my dream world my house would stay clean
and I would have more patience.
My friends and family wouldn't be so far away
In my dream world I would not have to be afraid of
letting peope help me or my children at the store.
I would smile more
In my dream world I would never run out of ideas
to be creative with my children
I would hug them more
In my dream world everyone would have their needs
taken care of
There would be no poverty
In my dream world doctors would care more about
people and less about money
There would be no sickness
In my dream world I would be more helpful to
strangers and my neighbors.
Someday I will have my dream world.

I have had a lot of time to think today, as Whitney was sleeping and Dallin was nursing I just let my mind wander. My eyes fell upon the clutter on my dresser and my thoughts went to ways I can spend more time with my kids, and then the words just came. I knew I had to write them down, but I haven't been able to find my journal since this last move so this was the next best place.

Whitney's crazy day

Friday was some day for Whitney. It started out okay. We had the car so I decided we needed to run errands. After our last errand I was buckling Whitney in and she laughed at something and I noticed a new tooth!! Yay - she was finally getting her two year molars. So I checked the other places where her teeth were supposed to be and yes - three more coming in. That would explain some of the crankieness we have had lately.
Then we decided that since it was 80 degrees we should go get Danica her ice cream she got for being good at school. So we do that and have fun. After we get home Danica turned on some music and Whitney started dancing around - only to run into the corner of the wall with her face. She now has a nice green stripe down the right side of her face.
So we calm her down, kiss her better and continue to make dinner. Only to hear another scream. She had been playing in the spare room with my balance ball and bit through her tongue. Yes - my children have lethal weapons in their mouths. At least this time it was mearly puncture wounds on both sides. (unlike Danica's) YIkes!!
So I made her suck on an ice cube until it had stopped bleeding and then Daddy got home and all was better.
Maybe she's growing again. Who knows !!

The Haircut

Today I decided I was just going to go an cut my hair. I have waited long enough. This is my insanly long hair before I cut it.

I got to the Salon and told them I wanted to donate my hair, that I needed at least 12" to donate it to Wigs for Kids and I had all the paperwork. This salon usually donates to Locks of Love. Well, here are the pictures of the haircut I was going for...

and the lady only cut 11" off in the ponytail, but then shed several more inches as she was styling and this is what I ended up with...

Not quite like I was looking for, but Dave says he likes it and so does Danica so I guess it will do.
I'm not sure how I feel about it since it wasn't what I asked for.
When you say chunky layers and your get nonobtrusive layers well, what can I say. That was actually the reason I ended up with short hair in the pics I was taking in - I don't think nonobtrusive layers look good with my hair. What do you think?

ps - Danica took the before and after shots - she's pretty good huh.

Happy New Year

I guess this is what happens when you have a new baby. I think we made it to 11:30. Dave and I woke up when we heard cannons outside. We looked at eachother and said "Happy New Years"

Then we closed our eyes and went back to sleep.
And this is the next day...

we are an exciting bunch aren't we??

Another Dallin update

Dallin went in for a weight check yesterday and he has gained 9 oz in the past week. This is great!!
I found amongst all the samples they send home with you a herbal tea to increase milk production. I thought = what the heck nothing else is working. Well, there's the proof. He gained more in the last week than he had the previous 5 weeks put together.

We are extrememly happy that things are starting to work so no more worries about him. Now we just get to relax and play!!

Christmas part 2

Santa brought presents at the kids party and Danica and Whitney got an Easy Bake Oven. They have loved it!!! Now that Danica can read all I have to do is make sure they don't dump water all over the place.

Just a sampling of the many presents people got us this year. Don't you like the bow?

I think this was Dave's favorite present - he is now insisting that next year all his presents go under his tree.
Grandma sent beautiful dresses for the girls.

Dallin was quite pleased with his Mickey Mouse collection he got. This is just one of them.
Whitney wouldn't put this one down. She was having a blast drawing the pictures.

Since we didn't have time before Christmas, we decorated our Gingerbread houses the day after Christmas. My sister was visiting and we had a great time. Danica had help putting her house together, but then she decorated it all herself. She was very pleased with her work.

The finished product:

my house. and my sister's house
This is Danica's house. She did a great job!!

christmas part 1

Our holiday festivities started with all the Christmas Parties. Dave and I went to his work party, then we went to our ward party, and then to another work party for the kids. Here's some pics of the kids with Santa at our ward party. They all had a blast. No crying this year.

Danica wants a bedroom set for her dollhouse

Whitney wants a Cinderlla doll

and we still don't know what Dallin wanted.
Then we decorated the tree. These are the only pictures I have because I spent most of the night cleaning up broken glass. Never put a tree with glass ornaments on a tile floor. YIKES

Whitney got to put the angel on the top this year. As you can see she has shoes on because of all the broken glass. But we still had fun decorating the tree. Whitney kept putting all the ornaments in the same spot so Dave and I had to do "crowd control" later that night.

Dallin update

Hi all,

This post is more for me to mull over the situation. but feel free to comment as you please.

Dallin had his one month check this week, and according to his doctor he is very healthy, hydrated, etc. etc. etc. The only problem is that is is only 7 pounds. Yes - his birth weight.
The shortened story is that he was born at 7 lbs, one week later was 6 lb 9 oz. at two weeks he was 6 pounds 10 oz and now at 5 weeks is back to 7 pounds.
He has grown an inch in length, sleeps well at night as long as he is in our bed (he likes the company I guess, or it may just be more comfortable than the pack-n-play)

Anyway, there are many similarities between Danica and Dallin except that Dallin is perfectly happy.

The othe difference is that he won't take a bottle after he's done nursing. Which is why the doctor thinks he is getting enough. We go back next week to weigh him again to see if he just has been taking a while to increase my milk supply since it took him three weeks to figure out how to eat efficiently.
Thanks for listening, any advice, tips etc for increasing milk would be great.

She's 3

It's hard to believe that 3 years have passed since this little firecracker entered our lives. She's had to have things her way since the begining. In fact, she decided to come during Dave's finals. He missed his class presentation and then an hour or two after she was born he bolted to take two finals.

She went from this little bundle to this wild child.
She ended up having a TinkerBell birthday although we didn't really plan it that way. She actually wanted a pink princess cake, but this is what I could do in the half hour I had to decorate her cake. Dave and Danica picked out her presents and got her all TinkerBell toys, and then he aunt gave her tinkerbell hair things and jewlery. (I forgot to rotate this picture - sorry)

Getting ready to blow out the candles.

Happy Birthday Whitney!!
