another moving adventure

wow - on this move we encountered enough adventures to last us a lifetime of moves.
first - Our truck reservation fell through. We truck we reserved for our city and our day was so nicely 120 miles one way from our location. Yes - UHAL reserved us a truck that wasn't due until 3 days after our pickup day then told us we had to drive 120 miles one way to pick up the next closest truck. EXCUSS ME I DON'T THINK SO. So we call around and after the majority of the day is done and we have less than 2 hours until our help arrives BUDGET calls us and tells us they found us a truck. They gave us a truck that was reserved for someone the next day, but were willing to drive out to their other location to get a different truck for the next days reservation. OKAY that is customer service that we like!!

Second - As we are getting closer to our destination for day one 1-25 is gone. It is completely under construction in one town and the detour takes you in circles throughout the whole town. I will let you imagine what that was like with three tired and hungry kids and two tired and frustrated parents. Anyway we made it to our destination 4 hours later than expected.

Third - We finally arrived at our new home around 4:30 in the afternoon. We got checked in and started unloading the truck. We unload everything we think needs to stay and then tell the kids to get their shoes back on we need to head back out to our storage unit. Dallin is asleep on the bed and Dave and I are closing up the truck and doing last minute checks to make sure we have everyting that needs to go. I get Whitney in her car seat and she says she needs a jacket. As I start back in toward the house I hear the door shut. Danica has been trained well to close the door behind her... can you guess what happened next. Yep the door automatically locks. Keys - inside. Baby -- inside. Phone - inside. A moment of terror strikes me as I realize that at 9:30 pm in the middle of the forrest, all park personnell are home and we haven't been oriented to the park yet to know who to go to. Panic starts to set in - how can I get my baby???!!! Dave and I run around the cabin checking all the entrances and windows. nothing.. older home are much harder to break into. Dave finally dislodges a window and after 45 minutes of trying to get in we finally just rip the screen and send Danica in through the hole. She first checks on Dallin and she says he's okay he's still asleep. So we get the hole closed up and the window back in. Then the rains came. Bythis time Dallin is awake so we feed him and finally load everyone into the car. A small moment of peace and then...

Fourth - If you haven't gathered yet we live in a cabin in the woods - no paved roads, trees and rocks abound around the road. We are disoriented. Dave turns the wrong way out the drive. We drive a little ways and realize we are going to wrong way. Have you ever tried to turn around a 15 foot moving truck in the mud in the forrest??? It took me 4 tries in the van. Now I let your imagination take over... Needless to say we did get it turned around. Dave is a superhero!! Now we are off to unload at storage. Well, we finish unloading at 3:30 am. We are too tired to drive back to our house and try to find it in the dark. First hotel was booked, Second was available. Woo hoo.

After 4 lovely interrupted hours of sleep we are now ready to go back home. We do have to say that through all these fun adventures we had a blast with our friends the Lawerences we stayed with. The girls went to the park, Dave got to play with his buddy he never sees and I rested slightly. We sang lots of songs and made up stories along the way (Mr. Goobers and crocodiles was one of my favorites) and as soon as I get pictures taken I can't even describe the breathtaking view from our windows. We drove through many beautiful places and the girls are now old enough to enjoy them too.

Love you and miss you all!!! And thanks to everyone who helped us in New Mexico!!! We wouldn't have made it without you.

Six months

Hi everyone,
I am 6 month old now. Can you believe it. I have had so much fun the last six months. I got to know my mom and dad, and my sisters real good. I love to play with them. I have also been learning a lot of things. I just learned how to sit up. I still need someone by me though.

I love to smile at everyone. One of my favorite things is getting tossed in the air (don't worry - I hold on tight)


Did I mention I love my sisters? This is Whitney. I get to play with her everyday, but Danica is always at school so I don't see her as much.

I've also started eating cereal, and I like to get it everywhere. Mom gave me sweet potatoes too and those are better than cereal for sure.

Just thought I would let you know what I'm up to these days.

Randomness from the past few months

Our days are filled playing outside, making mud pies, swimming, painting, playdough ect. Although I only have pictures from the mud activity we are keeping ourselves busy.


This is a fun tradition that we have..

Yes - the tent is set up in our living room and we do this every conference weekend. We campout in our living room and listen to conference. although this year we had to leave our tent and travel to the meeting house because the chocolate milk and power cable dilema happend while listening to conference on Saturday. It wasn't too bad, but it was a long day for the kids.

Dallin's blessing

We had a great weekend full of activities with the family. Here's what Dallin thought of swimming...

hung out at home. My kids hadn't seen Grandpa Bob in almost 2 years. Now that is too long, but they remembered him, in fact, Whitney wouldn't leave his side the first day he was here.

Dallin's blessing part 1 - family arrives

On March 19th family members started arriving. My parents arrived first and we got to go pick Dave up from work and then try out the new mini golf place by his work. Not bad for where we live. The girls had a blast.

To My Mothers

Thank you dear mother for giving me life and giving so much of yours to raising me and my siblings.

My appreciating for you has grown so much since I became a mom. I am ever grateful that you are just a phone call away.

You taught me so much and I used to think I didn't want to be like you , but when I grew up and left home and discovered the 'real world' for myself I wanted ever so much to be just like you.

Mom - I love you.

To my second mother I too am grateful that you gave so much of your life to raising your children, especially my dear Dave. He is the most wonderful man and I know that he learned it from you.

You have the biggest heart of anyone I know and I have been so grateful to have you in my life. Your example of selflessness is cherished and I hope that I can become as selfless as you.

Dear Mom - I love you!


And to all the other mom's in my life - I too have learned so much from watching you and being part of your lives.

more thoughts from my head

Sorry I still am working on getting the pictures organized and edited from all our adventures over the past two months. Soon - I promise.



For now I wanted to post some good and not so good things of this morning.



A cold front moved in... yes this is good - it is no longer 109 degrees. It is now in the 80's. I can handle that. There are clouds and nice breezes and it is fairly quiet at my house...



except for the neighbor's not so fine tuned racing machine that he decided to fire up at 8 am this morning after we had all finally gotten back to sleep after another sleepless night (not so good)...



But the girls are actually playing nicely together despite their tiredness and there is still peace at my house.



Last night I was exhausted and commented to Dave "hun, why am I so bad at keeping house?"

His reply "Becaus you are so good at keeping kids"

Do I have a great husband or what. The mess drives both of us up the wall, but he realizes it's because we have 4 little bundles of energy running around all day and that I'm playing with them instead of doing the dishes and you know what - he love that, and can overlook the mess. I am blessed.



A side note - Dallin is dehydrated it has been 103, 105, 109 degrees consecutively where we are, and the air unit is not yet hooked up where we live. Dallin has been nursing every 1 1/2 to 2 hours because he so hot and sweaty all the time, but despite this he only had 3 wet diapers yesterday none of which were even remotely soaked, but you could see the dark yellow pee spots for every time he did go. (sorry for the details) I have tried and tried to get him to drink water and juice from a bottle, sippy cup, even a medicine dropper and the boy won't take it.



HELP for the sake of my baby and me what do I do?

St Patty's day (I told you I was behind)

For St. Patrick's Day this year, I made green pancakes and convinced the girls that leprechauns had come and gotten into the batter and turned it green. Danica even told her teacher that. I started babysitting on this day and we did a fun craft and made blarney stones.
Whitney had a blast. I need to do things like this more often.

We really didn't do any other celebrations that day. It's been kind a slow year for celebrations (I can't imagine why...)

4 and 5 months of Dallin

So I have been extrememly busy as of late. I started babysitting, we had family out for Dallin's blessing, and then our power cable to our laptop decided it didn't want to work, but unfortunately for me my family didn' stop growing or doing things during that time so here are a few pictures of Dallin from March 16 - his 4 month milestone.

Now a month has gone by and I will post some major events soon, but here are a few things from around April 16 - his 5 month milestone.

Some things I like to do are smile, laugh, and talk to people. I know how to roll over, but I don't like to because I hit my head on the floor the other day and I didn't like that too much. I found my feet and I think they are pretty cool. My sisters are the best!! I am starting to let my mommy sleep a bit at night now even though I still get up twice. I just love my mommy and hate to be away from her for that long. I love to chew on my toys and I drool all over everyone. I still spit up too, but usually save it for daddy or when we are out and about.

Another move

We got word today that Rocky Mountain National Park would like to have Dave back. In fact his new supervisor said she talked to his internship supervisor and was told she would be crazy not to hire him. It's good to finally be getting that kind of response when everyone tells him how amazing of a ranger he is. His work definately reflects how much he loves what he is doing. The only downside is that it is still a temporary position. So we get to go through all the wonder again in a few months time.

But we are excited to get back to where the dream started.

What have my kids been up to?

The end of February Dave introduced Dallin to the world of Pretty Pretty Princess. Yes - Dave dressed his son up in Princess Jewlery. Apparently he didn't mind too much.

Whitney had fun playing in the mud (also the end of February). We were hoping to get some grass in the backyard before all our family came, but discovered the ground here is super hard and has to be soaked for a few days before you can do anything to it. So here is what Whitney did while I soaked to the ground.

We didn't actually get grass planted either, but it probably wasn't a bad thing since it just snowed last weekend.

The first week in March the Kindergarten celebrated Dr. Sues and they all got Cat in the Hat hats. Here is Danica sporting her fab purple one.

She really did like it despite the funny look on her face.

Anyway, I am once again very far behind in the blogging and we have had several important things happen this month so I will try to get them up asap.

more about Dallin

I'm sure some of you are curious about what's happening with Dallin - well, I've tried to supplement him, and he's just not hungry after he nurses - or he's too stubborn to take formula. He will take my milk from a bottle if I have any to give him after he eats, but when given formula he just smiles at me and lets it all drool out all over the place.
The doctor gave him some medicine to help him spit up less, and that seems to be helping.
All-in-all this has been really rough on me and i am sure the rest of my family. The doctor and I have also discussed pumping and adding fortifier or formula to it to see if we can calorie pack it, but we are doing well for now, but I really could use some extra sleep. I am exhausted.

Playing dolls???

Whitney wanted so much to play with Dallin. She handed him her Cinderella barbie and he grabbed it and tried to eat it. He has really gotten the hang of grabbing and putting into his mouth.

Don't worry Dave doesn't know he was playing with barbies. :)
