fashion show

My favorite picture of my girls (at least for now)

Thank you Lisa and Angel for sending these. The girls had a fashion show with them as soon as they took them out of the box. They paraded around the house and danced with each other. Whitney kept the same dress on the whole time but Danica tried on every dress.

Girls do just want to have fun!!

many ponderings

First off - a confession - I have a hard time sharing my inermost thoughts with people - it scares me. But, I am trying to do better at it so here goes:

I have had quite a bit on my mind as of late. As Dave is once again applying for jobs and being told no both of us have begin to wonder why (yes that awful question that I feel so guilty about asking). As all of his supervisors are very eager for him to continue his work with their park (unfortunately again at the same grade and pay level) we can't seem to figure out why a higher pay grade is eluding us. As he had talked to his internship supervisor over Christmas and was told of 10 new positions to the park we were very hopeful - and yet it turned out that they too are only GS4 and again six month positions (which is not what his supervisor told him they would be). Anywho- back to the question of why - why is it that as we try to follow the gospel guidelines and listen to the guidance of the Spirit we are always put in positions where we can barley survive. (okay maybe that's a bit dramatic) As we are left here to live on Ramen and Mac and Cheese (which I have to say is incredibly hard for a dietitan to feed her family) we ponder how a family with two college graduates struggle to live in this world and why does no one want someone with a degree. And what problem does the government have that they don't want families to be part of the park system. and yada yada yada. I could go on forever.

I do however, find peace in that we do know that we are doing what we are supposed to, and we have decided that unless some kind of miracle happens with the park service, our time with them is drawing to a close. We just don't feel right about the living situations it is putting us in and the dead end we feel as we contemplate what we want for our family. We are hoping and praying that as this door closes another door will open. (And we are just waiting to hear from that particular door.)
I also have been reminded of that refining fire (or whatever you call it) that we are put through here on earth. Despite the struggles of now we both feel that we are being prepared for something in the future. This has given us tremedous strength and courage as we face, once again, the unknown.

Well, what a busy week we had. Between family, preschool, and church things we had people/guest at our house everyday. I am exhausted!! It's hard to have to clean your house that much!! Especially after preschool boys! Yikes!! Ok all you moms that have boys I now have a new appreciation for you. My girls can make messes pretty quick, but these boys broke their record by a long shot. I turned around an the room looked like a hurricane had hit. 3 yr old boys - YIKES. Now we are on to another adventure as we have decided that Whitney is ready to potty train - at least we think so. We are going to give it a try this week and see how it goes. Wish us luck!!!

playing with paper

Dave is having so much fun being a sumo wrestler and Whitney is having fun trying to knock him down.Mummies trying to dance?
Watch out she's gonna get you.

What fun you can have with paper.
I got a shipment from Stampin' UP! and it came with a bunch of packing paper, so we had fun making the girls into mummies and, well, mom and dad got in on the fun too. What a fun afternoon. We also played tug-o-war with the paper, but that didn't last long.

kids say the funniest things

Danica and Whitney watched the Lion King this past week, and the next day at lunch Danica started singing "In the Jungle" The best part was that she (ike many kids) interpreted the words wrong. So she was singing ..."the lion sleeze tonight" instead of sleeps tonight. She sang it all day and I just had to smile every time I heard it. How funny!!!

happy new year

We hope everyone had a wonderful new years. We spent the night over with some friends and we discovered the Wii. And I now feel very old as my arm was sore the next day from all the moving and shaking that was required.

The girls had a blast even though they were the only kids (well big enough to run around anyway). Sorry there are no pics - I forgot the camera. Seems like I always forget something whenever we go somewhere. :)

Once our internet stops being silly I'll get some more pics and hopefully some really cute video, but for some reason my internet doesn't want to let it download. (of course being where we are we don't get the best reception for any kind of wireless service - someday maybe that will be different)

Whitney and food - she can't get enough.

Whitney is always in the kitchen with me when I'm cooking, and this particular night I grabbed something out of the fridge and heard something fall out. I didn't know what it was and didn't have free hands to pick it up so I continued over to the table to put stuff down. I turned around and found Whitney eating something. I Got closer and realized it was a stick of butter!! I know -what did I do - I got the camera and had to take pictures - I mean look at that gigantic bite she's got in her mouth. and she loved it. She had eaten it all up before I could get her to spit it out.

Then while I was putting the camera away, she discovered she could open the fridge so once again - i got the camera - and caught her in the act. Now she is in the fridge all the time, but now she can get her own drinks of nice cold water so I think she and mom are happy about that.

Whitney's favorite food is bananas. We can't keep them on the shelf because she will climb up and steel them. She has figured out how to open them and will eat the whole bunch if she can get her hands on them.

What a cutie she is - even with food in her mouth.

girly girls

As we were getting ready for Christmas I decided it has been way too long since I've done something "pretty" for me. So I got out my nail polish and polished up my toes and the girls couldn't hardly wait for me to finish so I could do theirs. So we all got pretty toes for the Christmas holidays. And I have found one way that they will actually be still. At least until the last toe is painted :)

Christmas tree decorating

We decorated our Christmas Tree the other night and had so much fun doing it. I really enjoy decorating for Christmas. The girls had a blast hanging ornaments on the tree, but Whitney decided some of them would be better if she tasted them first.

Danica wanted to put the angel on top, so as daddy lifter her up she tried, but unfortunately it is a tricky tree topper and she couldn't get it to stay.

We have never had such a full tree before and we had to go buy more lights since we didn't have enough to go all the way around. Every day Danica informs us of how many days are left until Christmas. I don't think she is very excited though :)
